LA River Bend Release Feel Good Love Song

Americana/folk band LA River Bend has released its new single “Summer Wind” off its upcoming EP intended to be a feel-good love song. Check out the song below:

LA River Bend is a four-piece band made up of Nate Weiner (vocals, guitar), Emily Elkin (cello, vocals), Branden Stroup (bass, vocals, guitar) and Jacob Seldes (drums) and have honored traditions of Americana folk by building the walls of their epic soundscapes, embracing the dynamics and ultimately developing an aesthetic unique to their own.

Their latest single “Summer Wind” features three-part harmonies, driving drum beats and catchy Californian melodies built upon intricate guitar embellishments, indie-folk facets and poetically pop melodies. The fast paced, toe-tapping anthemic chorus is highlighted by the band’s approach of exploring the new sounds that could only be found in the So Cal environment.

The band began life as backing Weiner’s solo album, “Ride The Sun,” where the group spent time rehearsing and touring up and down the West Coast. After spending hours recording and mixing tracks for this project, with longtime friend Stroup and the addition of Elkin’s string arrangements, LA River Bend was born. With the introduction of their now signature three-part harmonies and Seldes on percussion, the new and improved band mastered their authentically rustic, yet beautifully atmospheric sound.

“The addition of Seldes to the band is immeasurable, because I think our sound would have been less dimensional without his style of drumming,” Weiner said.

LA River Bend’s upcoming EP entitled “Run These Hills” is a collection of relaxing, vivid, nature themed music, bringing a contemporary and fresh approach to the indie folk genre and was entirely self-recorded by Stroup. Mastered by Grammy award-winning Eric Boulanger (Eric Clapton, Iggy Pop, Green Day), the EP is focused thematically on the symbolism of nature-based imagery and the tracks depict a serene feeling reaching emotional depths.

“The calming influence of nature in LA has been a huge musical inspiration to us,” Weiner said.

Rural Alberta Advantage released their new single “Brother” in anticipation on their upcoming album “The Wild” coming out Oct. 13. Check out the video below:

The three-piece band consists of Nils Edenloff, Paul Banwatt and Robin Hatch, known for delivering folk songs that stem from humble places and touch the heart. They went on the road to try out new material last year and using the experiences from their live set into the studio. In addition to “Brother” the band has also released singles “White Lights” and “Beacon Hill” that will surely intrigue fans old and new to their new 10-track album. When making any record, Edenloff said he does not follow a theme or plan but rather letting the music dictate where it should naturally go and “The Wild” is no different.

The band has been nominated for two 2012 Juno Awards (Best New Group and Video of the Year for their song “Stamp”), long listed for the 2011 Polaris Award, and awarded the CBC Music Prize for Best Independent Artist in 2014. The Karpinka Brothers – New Single Release

Canadian folk-rock duo The Karpinka Brothers have released a new single titled “You Make It Look Easy” for their upcoming album “Talk is Cheap.” Check out the song here:

The inspiration for the track came from Shawn Karpinka’s wife during a time of self-introspection, and “wondering about his place in the world.” The album finds the balance of sincerity and positivity for the Saskatoon brothers, who have a reputation of balancing as professional musicians and community volunteers. The brothers worked with Grammy nominee Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire, Leonard Cohen, Vic Chestnutt) who recorded and produced the album at his legendary Hotel2Tango in Montréal.

The album is a mix of folk and 60s pop songs with contributing musicians from Mathieu Charbonneau (Timber Timbre) on piano and keys, Jamie Thompson (Unicorns/Islands) on drums and percussion, Sophie Trudeau (Godspeed You! Black Emperor) on violin, Joel Kerr (Sara Slean) on bass, and backing vocals by Krista Muir.

The Karpinka brothers will be taking their nostalgic and pastiche songwriting on the road for a North American tour in support of “Talk is Cheap.” Check out this duo, who have in the past shared the stage with artists like John K. Samson and Gordon Lightfoot.
