New Wave Rock Band The Fontaines Show Off Their Inner “Freak”

A tale of a bad experience in bed highlights the narrative of the new single “Freak” by Los Angeles rock band The Fontaines. The song is filled with sultry vocals, groovy rhythms and a down-tempo beat all layered nicely with top notch production values. Check out the song here:

The Fontaines started with Charlotte Fontaine (vocals) and Hank Fontaine (guitar) writing songs together in 2014, until they were joined by Chrystian Kaplan (drums) and Daniel Zuker (bass) and became a full four piece. Charlotte is reclaiming sexist connotations and letting everyone know that it’s okay to be labeled a freak. After tiring out from uncomfortable encounters who shamed her, Charlotte decided to take the mantle of “freak” and run with it, making it acceptable for others too to indulge in their inner freak.

The band has been on a roll lately. In 2017, The Fontaines dropped the debut single “Evaporate,” which received airplay on commercial and satellite radio, and garnered thousands of online streams. This success caught on in Los Angeles, where The Fontaines headlined a sold-out performance at The Troubadour in support of their dual EP releases, “Playgirls” and “Playboys.”

Run Maggie Run Release New Single and Music Video for “Endlessly”

Run Maggie Run has released its new monochrome video for the song “Endlessly” that showcases the group’s emotion and passion in their performance. Check out the video below:

Formed in late 2015, Run Maggie Run began as the solo project of our singer/rhythm guitarist Gavin Rees, who recorded his first solo EP by himself in his basement. From that recording, the band used it as a foundation to build their own sound from. The group has since had a lineup change and added new sounds to embark on their journey moving forward.

“We wrote [“Endlessly”] during the first few months following the lineup change, and the success of writing it definitely helped push us through that awkward, transitional phase,” the band said in a statement. “Arguably, it’s what gave us the confidence to keep moving forward.”

VETO Release New Single “A Pit” from Upcoming Album “16 Colors”

VETO released another single from their upcoming album “16 Colors,” to be released on February 9. Check out the song below:

The band had this to say about the song and the album:

“‘A Pit’ circles the psychological problem around one only having symbols available to understand – experiencing a sort of alienation against the world, as a result. There is a reality that we cannot reach which is outside of our language, our symbols. We can’t get a pure reprieve from the constant stream of news that floods us daily. Could it be that the stream alters to ‘fit’ us? Or do we involuntarily see all impressions through a prism that transforms to our symbols, languages and interpretations?

We began recording ’16 Colors’ in 2014, after taking a year off from a hectic tour schedule that had kept us on the road since 2011. We had to retrieve our drive, and creativity demanded both time and space in order to flourish once more. This saw us parting ways with our record label and business partners, and granted us with a calmer, freer approach to the creative process. We worked alongside producer Mikkel Bolding over a two-year period, influencing our sound by introducing us to the world of analogue recording.”
